Friday Night Slumber Parties
Friday nights are special event in the Snyder household. Most Friday nights we have slumber parties on our living room floor. The Hubs and I both grew up having living room slumber parties, it was kind of a BIG deal. So Friday nights after our living room picnic of pizza or Chinese, sometimes even McDonalds, the kids bring down all of their favorite blankets and pillows and stuffed animals for the night, the Hubs finds a movie on Netflix and I make the popcorn (even though he makes it better.)
Even though I am exhausted from the week and all I want to do is curl in my bed with my pillows and big comforter and snuggle up to the hubby, I am reminded that these moments are memories being made. One day our children will hopefully pass along these memories to their children and so on.
The giggles, spilled iced tea, random socks laying around the living room floor and then the instant silence once my sleeping babies will become few and far between. These moments will one day come to an end when they’re “too cool” for mom and dad to be part of their slumber party full of peers or a Friday night basketball game takes priority.
So for now I make my bed upon our super cozy couch and watch as each of them, including the dogs, drift off to sleep after 16 bathroom trips, 6 more glasses of water and a few hundred shouts of “Go To Sleep!!!!”
