If you haven’t started menu planning by now you need to start, for your sanity’s sake. It saves you time, money and from the whine factor of “Mooooooom! What are we having for dinner?!” You know what I’m talking about, as soon as they get off the bus they are already asking what will be on their plate that evening though it’s 2 hours away and you haven’t given it ANY thought yet!
So in order to put a stop to the “what are we having for dinner saga” there is a solution, Menu Planning.
Menu Planning 101 – there are two ways to go about setting up your meal plan, weekly or monthly. I choose for the new year to try weekly menu planning. That way instead of waiting an entire month for something you suddenly got hungry for, you’re only waiting a week. I also find it fresh in my mind the plan so if I inevitably forget my grocery list, I have a bit of an idea of the groceries I need to grab.
For those who try the monthly menu planning and monthly grocery shopping, I’d love for your feedback on how you make it work. It just hasn’t worked for my family. So my process is on a Thursday or Friday I collect my meal ideas for the upcoming week (mainly from Pinterest) and as I assign the meal days I write down my list of groceries I know I don’t have that I’ll need for the week. Easy Peesy!
I have a printable attached of my Monthly Meal Plan through the holidays as an example of what I was doing for 2016.
