I love Pinterest! Have I shared that with you yet? The endless amount of possible craft ideas are wonderful until my wallet is looking at me saying “uh-huh girlfriend, no room for that” in regards to the supplies listed. So when I find a craft that I know I already have supplies for like this newspaper owl, I am super happy to share it.
This is my Newspaper Owl Craft – level easy
- Unwanted newspaper
- Glue (stick or liquid it’s up to your choice)
- Orange construction paper
- Googly eyes (optional)
First step: GRAB PAINT SHIRTS FOR YOUR MINI’S, YOU’LL THANK ME FOR THAT ONE LATER!
Step two: lay out the newspaper and let your mini’s go to town covering it in the watercolor paint. Let it dry completely. (Cutting wet newspaper gets messy)
Step three: cut out your owl shape. I drew mine free hand but you can always grab a silhouette off of Google to trace.
Step four: I took some of the extra non-painted newspaper and cut out two circles of a smaller size and two circles of a larger size. Then the larger circles I cut in half to use for the wings.
Time to assemble.
Take your owl shape painted newspaper and attach the two half circles on either side for wings with the straight edge facing up.
Glue your smaller newspaper rounds where the eyes should be and then attach your googly eyes on top of them.
Finally add your “beak.” Cut out a small triangle from your orange construction paper and attach it accordingly.
