Our little fishing excursion. Okay okay many who know me know I’m not the “natural girl” type. I’d prefer a comfy hotel bed to a sleeping bag in the woods any day. With that being said I want my children to have an appreciation for nature and a chance to enjoy the whole “nature thing” like I did as a kid. Both my brother and myself were part of boy/girl scouts and had the opportunity to camp outdoors, fish, hike, the whole kitten caboodle. I didn’t appreciate those out door excursions when I was younger the way I am now with my minis.
So this past weekend we had one nice day and we decided to take the minis on a fishing excursion. It was free fishing so we didn’t need a permit so we headed to the store and grabbed the various character fishing rods for the kids and bait. The next morning after church we head home, changed into our fishing gear and headed to the local pond. We decided to stay local just in case anyone decided to fall into the pond we’d at least be close to home for a quick change.
Many would be surprised to know that I baited my own hook during our little fishing trip as well as Addison had no problem handing me the live worms we had for bait.
After two hours the minis began to get bored and with only one catching a small sunny their attention and drive to catch a fish was limited.
We wrapped our little fishing excursion with having to only fish one rod out of the pond. No children decided to take an unexpected swim. I call that a win!
