Every mom needs a planner we can all agree. If you search on Pinterest or Google hundreds of planner companies and printables and templates pop up but how in the world do you ever sort through them to find the right one for you. First off you need to figure out if you are a paper and pencil kinda gal or are you more of an electronic need it on my phone kinda gal. I personally like the idea of writing things down in a planner, for me it’s easier to commit something to memory if I write it down at some point. I have attempted to use an outlook calendar synced with my email and a google calendar all of which have fallen short in what I need from them.
My planner of choice is from Plum Paper. This is definitely an upgrade from the drugstore pocket calendar that had just enough pages per months of the year that I always saw my mom using growing up. When picking out your “Happy Planner” you need to think of what YOU need the calendar to do for you? How will you be using your planner?
I needed my planner to be big enough that I could write in my monthly events as well as a daily section but I also needed it to be small enough to fit in a purse or tote. I need my planner to host events for my Thirty-One business, my dance studio times and to-do’s, my kids’ extra-curricular activities, my weekly meal plan, bill due dates and possibly a date night.
My planner is my life map. So for me spending the extra bucks to purchase a planner that fits my needs is necessary to the everyday function of my household. I also found that I need an hour by hour daily planner so within my Plum Paper planner I have the month lay out as well as the daily hour by hour from 7a-7p.
This is the first time I have chosen to get an hour by hour section for my planner however I am able to schedule better, more efficiently. For example: on the monthly block you write dentist appointment on February 2nd at 9:15am but if that is all that fits in that tiny box then at first glance it looks like your entire day is filled up. With the daily hour by hour I can write in from 9-10:30 Dentist appointment which includes my drive time leaving the rest of the day available for other tasks and activities at hand.
Your planner is an investment in your sanity.
